Maddison Woollard is a Sydney-based fashion and underwater photographer. A freediver, scuba diver, marathon ocean swimmer and climber, her work is deeply ingrained in her relationship with the natural world. Her underwater photography has earned international recognition, including Gold and four People's Vote Awards at the Refocus Awards, Silver and Bronze at the B&W Photo Awards, and Top 5 Jury Selection, 2nd Place in Fashion and Best of Show at the International Photo Awards. She has also been featured in Independent Photographer.
Her debut exhibition Breathhold, a personal freediving photography project, was hosted by the Australian National Maritime Museum for a three-week run in November 2025, as part of Head On Photo Festival's Open Program. Canon supported by suppling the fine art printing of the series. Every frame was captured on a single breath, using only natural light, the first time Maddison had ever taken a camera underwater while freediving.
Driven by a maximiser mentality, Maddison approaches art and life with fearless ambition, whether shooting New York Fashion Week, summiting an ice mountaineering peak at 21 with no prior experience, or swimming 10km from Bondi to Watsons Bay months after joining the sport. That zest for life and love of community fills every frame, making her work as much about connection and energy as technical excellence.
